Maxim Pugachov - composer, piano

I was born in Minsk, Belarus on December 30, 1971. In 1990 I graduated Central Music School of Belarusian State Conservatory; in 1995 - I graduated Belarusian State Academyof Music (former Belarusian State Conservatory) with concentration in piano (audio: fragments of my exit examination). During my last year there, I worked with small orchestra of Mikhail Finberg, which among other things performed my own compositions too (music group Green Card). During military service in the orchestra of Ministry of Defense, I performed Edvard Grieg's piano concerto (video). In 1996 I was invited to the orchestra of Mikhail Finberg where I played piano and keyboards for a few years. During that time a lot of music was performed: premiers of such programs as Beatles Symphony by Vladimir Tkachenco, creative evening of Yevgeni Glebov, music festivals Slavianski Bazaar and Molodechno, many concerts with a variety of belorusian and foreign artists - all this not counting the work with small orchestra where I where I was realizing myself as composer and arranger. As such, some of my plays were performed in winter 1998 at International Jazz festival in Minsk (video).
Since 1998 I have been working with jazz band Apple Tea. We performed at multiple jazz festivals: Kaunas Jazz-98 which gathered such stars of american and european jazz as Mark Copeland, John Abercrombie, Kenny Wheeler, Courtney Pine, and others; Sea Festival in Klaipeda in 1999; 7th International Jazz Festival in Klaipeda in 2000; 42nd international festival Jazz Jamboree in 2000 in Warsaw where among the guests were Ravi Coltrane, Brad Mehldau Trio, Garry Bartz, Bebel Gilberto, Jaroslav Smetana; international jazz festival Nida Jazz Maratonas 2006 (Lithuania); Koktebel Jazz 2006 with Stanley Clarke and Billy Cobham; and Beatles-Forever! festival in Logoysk, Belarus in 2006. During that time I participated in recording three albums by Apple Tea, and Bee Dance is half my authoring. In 2006 we recorded an original version of "Soldier of Fortune" by Deep Purple which was included in russian collection ПИПЛ про / to PURPLE (audio). It can be said that presently I am still collaborating with Apple Tea.
In summer 2000 I played with singer and composer Juri Antonov. Since november 2000 my permanent position is with ensemble Belarusian Pesniary as keyboardist and arranger, but in future I hope to express myself also as a composer. With this collective I visited many corners of Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, and Czech. Great success was solo concert Не люби нелюбимого at the State Central Concert Hall Rossia in Moscow which was recorded on CD and DVD. In 2003 we gave a big concert in New York. In 2004 - another CD recording was made, this time program 35 и 5 from Kremlin with guests Iosif Kobzon, ensembles Samotsvety and Zemlyane. Recently, on November 24, 2006, a concert with our new program took place in Moscow at Mir Concert Hall.
Since 2005 (with interruptions) my residence as a jazz pianist is a prominent jazz club Singing Fountains where I play in a trio. I also perform in concerts (Jazz Thursdays in Guberniya by Viktor Volchek, club Graffiti, and others). Very soon (april - may) my solo album will be released, which is an original result of my artistic experiences of the past years.
